Another day, another dollar

Hello my loyal readers…

How has your day been?

My day is off to a good start.

I actually woke up early so I was able to visit some of my favorite forums this morning before starting work.

It occurred to me that I had forgotten how to do “add to cart” for my Amazon Associate affliate links so I spent a busy morning looking that up.

Of course, I should have been using google rather than bing because a 20 minute bing search was useless but a 1 minute google search got me the answer that I was seeking.

And from Amazon itself if you can believe it.

The beauty of the Add to Cart feature is that it puts the product directly in the buyer’s cart.

Plus, it extends the amount of time that the affiliate gets a commission from just a mere 24 hours to a full 90 days.

Yep, it’s all about those benjamins…

For my advertise, virtual assistant, and freelance writer pages, I looked into add-to-cart ordering plugins.

I think that I am going to start with accepting Paypal and Amazon Payments.

I am also starting to offer blogger events.

Give-aways, especially big cash giveaways, are great for traffic.

The difference is that in mine will be affordable to 99% of bloggers.

Luckily, I run a FB group for blogger opportunities, so I was able to take a quick peek on how other bloggers are running theirs.

I did some work on my header this morning.

I actually switched the Project Wonderful from the header with an adsense ad.

Then I placed the PW ad underneath the blog post header.

I did this because PW ads will render in the email that subscribers receive while adsense will not so it was a waste of space to have the adsense ads there.

Oh, and if you clicked on the project wonderful hyperlink above, you will notice that it has my domain name.

If you’re interested, that is a plugin called Pretty Link and I suspect that it is going to be a huge time saver!

I also wrote a few posts for my housing blog so I am making some real progress work-wise.

So far, the only frustrating part of my day is trying to figure out why my adsense header ad is rendering funky.

It is a responsive ad box so it should fit the same way as the PW ad when it was in there.

Any html gurus on here? I would be grateful for the assist!

Meanwhile, it is 10:30 so I better get started on my FB group work or I’ll be doing them all night. ~sigh~

12:00 p.m.

Checked my adsense stats and realized that my book blog made $1.72.

Woot! Woot!!!

That’s more than it has made all year. Lol.

We know return you to are regularly scheduled work: FB groups….~joy~

5:30 p.m.

Taking one of my infamous “breaks” to work on the header.

I figured out why it was so small only to make it too big.

Now it covers the entire width of the header area.

Plus, whatever I did made my PW banners magically disappear too.

Then I changed the adsense ad from a responsive to a regular ad  but now I don’t know how to make it move left so that it is not covering the header image.

Now I got the PW code back live but the adsense ad has completely disappeared. Grrr.

And I really should have looked at my website from my iPad because the PW ad is way to big.

I wish that their ads were responsive.

7:22 p.m.

Figured out that it was the PW code that was causing the adsense to disappear.

Put the code in a widget and slid the widget into the footer and it was fixed.

Ugly solution but it works.

9:12 p.m.

Getting sleepy and time to call it a night as soon as I finish Bing, Swagbucks, Superpoints, and Paidviewpoint.

11:22 p.m.

Whoops. Feel asleep for a bit there. Let’s call.

Night all.
