I am actually losing weight in 2016. It’s a miracle!!

June came, as it is wont to do.

And it was then that I realized that half the year had already passed and I had done nothing…Nothing…towards my goal of dropping down from 180 lbs to no more than 140 lbs this year.

A goal that was getting harder and harder every years as not only my age was going up every year but so was the size of my clothes.

No longer could I squeak by saying that I was a Medium or Size 9.

Nope, my ass has entered double digits. Literally.

Plus, this was my last year where I can claim “baby” fat since the last baby will be turning 18 in 2017.

No more babies to blame.

So, I got serious about losing weight (if not very serious about documenting my progress…till now!).

First thing that I did was put my money where my mouth is…or rather, my Amazon gift card balance and got myself a Fitbit Alta.

I chose the Fitbit Alta as opposed to the other Fitbit alternatives because I wanted the wrist-watch function.

I thought about getting a Smartwatch such as the Samsung Gear 2 but I didn’t want to be limited to only using that brand’s cell phone.

Fitbit functions with any type of Android or Apple phone.

Plus, the Fitbit Alta has an ever increasing stock of changeable armbands, as opposed to the Fitbit Blaze which is all one piece.

Another reason that I chose the Fitbit brand is that you can link it to stores and earn points for exercising, such as Walgreens.

But a major reason that I chose the Fitbit is that I can earn money while exercising and losing weight.

I actually entered programs such as Dietbet, Stepbet, Pact, and AchieveMint (reviews on these coming up later).

To date, I have taken a minimum of 10,000 steps per day (apparently, I was barely doing 1,000 when I was not recording), lost 18 lbs, and earned about $36.

Not bad….not bad at all…

So, I decided to make myself more accountable by posting my results monthly. My goal is to do it by the 2nd Thursday of every month.
